The Ireem Merchant Guild is looking for people to act as bodyguards for members that have been threatened or attacked by the assassin. The guild will protect its members. So any interested in taking on this role should please submit their applications to Ulric Dalglish either in person at The Ship Inn or by IM. I am looking to hire on Monday.

I fully support and will help fund this pro-active decision to counteract the recent wave of violence in the city. And I urge other merchants to stand with us in this and post our concurrence on this blog.

Ulric Dalglish OOC appeal to KOS players. It saddens me that Meagan Ling has decided to leave KOS because of the recent violence that culminated in a corpse being left in her bath house. I would like to repeat Kora's recent request that players respect the businesses of Ireem. The merchants are delighted if you chose to include us and our businesses in your roleplay. As a courtesy it would be appreciated if you either approach us IC or ask us OOC before using our businesses in your plots. I do not know the circumstances behind the corpse in the bath house but as it has prompted Meagan's vacating the lease is seems likely that nobody cleared it with her first. Again, we will be delighted to RP with you, just please approach the proprietors in the proper way. Many thanks in anticipation and Salaam to all.

I have a slightly different view on this.

If the merchant is there then sure, it's a good thing to ask first because there might be planned something not compatible with what you want to do.

If nobody is there though... Is it realistic to wait for that person to come back and ask? For realism, I think it's better to just have it happen. That unless there is a rule that says that because the merchant hires that place, it is off limits to roleplay. Or off limits to roleplay up to a certain degree (but how do you define what is allowed then and what not?)

This sim has a lot of violence in as well action as RP. Unless there will change rules that it is not allowed to have such a violence, people who do not like it are perhaps better off in another sim?

Having said that. Of course I will follow the requests, no matter how unrealistic I think they are. (sorry for the double post. I removed the first not quite finished one)

Kylara, Of course players should feel free to RP but I am suggesting that some courtesy should be shown if the inclusion of the business is likely to have a significant impact on the owner. That's not likely to happen very often, is it? The only examples I have seen so far is the corpse in the Knight's Rest and what happened to Meagan - where a corpse and intimidating message were left in her bath house. It wouldn't have been difficult for someone to IM her before doing it just to make sure she was okay with the idea. If someone had wanted to leave a corpse in the back room of the Ship Inn then I would have been fine with that. It turns out that Meagan wasn't and this was the final step for her. She has now left the SIM. The businesses are deliberately set up to encourage more involved RP. All players should feel free to use them when we aren't there and include them in their plots. All I ask, on behalf of the merchants, is that if the player's idea has a major impact then please ask the merchant first.

Fully agreeing on you with that. If it has major impact then sure. I just hope people will be able to judge what is major. You define it obviously different than Megan does.

So I guess "when in doubt... ask" is the right construction.

It sounds to me that this was a "last straw" for Meagan.. meaning, the violence in kos wasn't to her taste to begin with.

It's a violent place; not everyone will enjoy that.
